Covington
Covington is one of King County’s newest cities, incorporated in 1997. Located just east of Kent and straddling along state Highway 18, Covington has been one of King County’s premier cities since its incorporation. It has a total area of about 3540 acres and a population of about 15,000. Covington was named by the Pat Sumerall Productions as the “Best Managed Small City in 2004” for its population growth, high community involvement, exemplary schools, economic development and its vision for the future.
In addition to maintaining its small town feel, Covington has a keen focus on economic development through the years. Many businesses, including commercial retail and professional office buildings, have moved into town in recent years. Covington is now a great place for jobs and businesses, especially for medical clinics, banking, real estate, mortgage, restaurants and professional offices. It is also unique in that government is partnered with businesses in building the city.
